Janet served as the Mountain Home District Athletic Director for 11 years (2004 - 2015). During those years, the Mountain Home teams won 12 State Championships, numerous State Runner-up titles, and several conference All-Sports Awards.

As the Athletic Director, Janet helped launch the swimming, bowling, and wrestling programs at Mountain Home - as soon as they were sanctioned by the Arkansas Activities Association. Providing more opportunities for students was one of her top priorities.

In addition to increasing student-athlete participation, Janet developed a student-athlete/parent handbook, added and updated facilities, built valuable community partnerships, and founded the Mountain Home Athletic Hall of Honor. She was also a founding member of the Bomber Booster Foundation, a 501c3 organization which has raised over $2 million to improve athletic facilities. (Installed synthetic turf in 2006; converted a bowling alley into an indoor workout facility; assisted with building a new press box - completed in 2016; and began construction of an on-campus baseball/softball complex-completed in 2017). Janet was an active member of the Bomber Booster Club which provided financial and in-kind services for all athletes.

Janet was very active in the AHSAAA, serving on the Executive Committee for several years - and was Secretary before she switched jobs at her school. She also served as Program Chair (securing quality speakers for the state conference); Public Relations committee; helped with 50-50 ticket sales; was a past member of the Athletic Director’s Hall of Fame committee; and presented at several conferences. Janet was also selected as the 6A State Athletic Director of the Year for two years.

After a stellar career in coaching (Inducted into the AHSCA Hall of Fame in 2009), Janet moved into administration at the Junior High before serving as the District Athletic Director. Janet will begin her 42nd year in education this fall (40 at Mountain Home) where she currently serves as the Kindergarten Principal.

Janet has been married to Lou Wood for 31 years. They have 3 children: Mandi (Jamie) Booe of Little Rock; Travis (Liz) Wood of Tulsa; and Laci (Derrick) Lyons of Conway. Janet enjoys golfing, hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling; however her favorite pastime is spending time with their 6 grandchildren, Carley and Evan Booe, Lane and Luke Wood, and Gene and Golden Lyons.
