Annette Scogin, CMAA, has worked as an athletic administrator in Arkansas and Texas for more than 20 years. Scogin has worked in urban, private and suburban school districts. She was the first district athletic administrator for Springdale Public Schools (SPS) in Arkansas where Har-Ber HS and Springdale HS athletic teams both won state titles and hosted many state events for the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) in a variety of sports. Prior to her position in SPS, Scogin held positions in athletic administration with the Little Rock Public Schools, Episcopal Collegiate in Little Rock, Arkansas with her most recent position as the assistant director of athletics for the Dallas (Texas) Independent School District (DISD), one of the largest school districts in the nation with 22 high schools and 33 middle schools. Scogin coached volleyball, basketball, softball and track at the beginning of her career where her teams qualified for the playoffs as district champs and she was named district coach of the year in volleyball and basketball at schools and sports before starting her 20+ year career of being a full time athletic administrator.

In the DISD, Scogin oversaw close to one billion in bond money for renovations of 9 district athletic facilities sport complexes within the district. Scogin also oversaw professional development for the building athletic directors and 1,000+ coaches, was responsible for corporate contracts/sponsorships and was the lead in starting the DISD Athletic Hall of Fame. She also oversaw the sports of volleyball, soccer, swimming and softball programs at the high school and middle school levels during her tenure with DISD.

Scogin, who has been a member of the NIAAA since 1999, served as president in 2011 after being named an at-large board member in 2009. She has attended National Conferences as the state delegate for Arkansas and Texas many times and has been a member of several NIAAA committees, including the Strategic Planning Committee, Endowment Committee and the Resolutions Committee, for which she was the chair from 2016 to 2018.

Scogin has also been a speaker or moderator at six different National Conferences, served as a Leadership Training instructor on numerous occasions and represented the NIAAA at section and state meetings across the country. She has also been published several times in Interscholastic Athletic Administration and received an NFHS Citation in 2007 as Arkansas nomination and national winner of the award. In 2017, she was the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association (THSADA) state professional development recipient and in 2019 the state and national recipient of the NIAAA’s of Distinguished Service Award. Scogin has taught NIAAA LTI classes across the nation and hosted Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) test sites for Texas athletic directors and was co-founder of the inaugural Texas Aspiring Athletic Administrators clinic last summer.

During her time in Arkansas, Scogin was highly active in the Arkansas High School Athletic Administrators Association (AHSAAA), serving as president, vice president, secretary, Hall of Fame Committee chair, board member and liaison to the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA). She is a past AHSAAA Class 7A Athletic Director of the Year and a 2002 State Award of Merit recipient and the states Distinguished Service Award recipient. She was the first female president of the AHSAAA and the first in the state to become a national board-certified athletic administrator in obtaining the CAA and Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) certifications. Annette was the first to teach NIAAA leadership training courses and the master of ceremonies of the inaugural AHSAAA Hall of Fame banquet.

Scogin graduated from Little Rock McClellan in 1985 and started on the basketball and volleyball team for three years, where the Lions were state runner-up in 1985 in basketball. Scogin was pulled up her 9th grade year at the end of the season to play for the legendary Coach Jim Dickerson. Scogin played basketball at Henderson State University (HSU) under the late Coach Jane Sevier where she was on a full basketball scholarship. Scogin was a four-year starter, captain, lead the program in assist and played volleyball one season. She currently serves on the HSU alumni board. Scogin received her masters from Harding University in Educational Leadership and Administration. She moved to Montgomery, AL in July to be with family and is an IBO of two business, Pure and ViV.
